Born ca. 1781, son of William Grant of Brinkhill, and died at Withern 25 June 1842. Farmed most of his life at Withern (he bought a game license there in 1809), although described as ‘of the parish of Belchford’ when he got married. The marriage was witnessed by another Richard Grant, probably his cousin, who also farmed at Belchford. Married at Strubby, 7 Jul 1808, to Rebecca Thorpe. She was born ca. 1785 at Reepham, and died 11 July 1854. Buried at Withern. Residing at Withern in 1851 with her son William.
Issue two sons and two daughters:
- George Thorpe Grant. Baptised 4 November 1811 at Withern, and died 9 November 1842 aged 31. Buried at Withern.

At Withern, near Alford, on the 5th inst., of consumption, Anne only surviving daughter of Mr. Rd. Grant, farmer, in her 25th year. She bore a long affliction with patience, and as her end approached her joy increased: “I shall soon,” she said, ” “be at home: yonder is my house and portion fair: all is well.”eStamford Mercury, 13 November 1840
- Elizabeth Grant, baptised at Withern 27 July 1818 and died 26 October 1838 aged 21. Buried at Withern.
On the 26th ult., Elizabeth youngest daughter of Mr. Rd. Grant of Withern, near Louth, in her 22d year, deeply regretted by a numerous circle of friends. She was divinely supported through a protracted affliction, and her end was peace.fStamford Mercury, 2 November 1838
